What is YoungStar?

YoungStar is an initiative of Quest Community Newspapers, in partnership with McDonald’s Brisbane Restaurants, and is designed to recognise and pay tribute to the achievements of young people aged 8-18 in the areas of Sport, Arts/Education and Community involvement.

In 2010 we are delighted to welcome Southbank Institute of Technology to the YoungStar family as venue sponsor for the bi-monthly awards.

In what categories can I nominate or be nominated?

  4. Group – ie. Debating team, speech & drama group, science teams, student council, double/ quad sculls rowing team…

Where can I nominate or be nominated?

Nominations can be done online at www.youngstarawards.com.au, or you can download your YoungStar Kit on ‘How to be involved’. Nomination forms are also available from participating McDonald’s Restaurants, your local school or by calling your local Quest office. Nominations are open for 2 months at a time.

How to become a YoungStar?

Once nominations are closed, the judging panel comes together to determine the winner of each category in each paper region for the time period of nominations. The winner is notified and invited to a bi-monthly awards ceremony to be presented with their certificate, trophy and gift.

What happens after I become a YoungStar?

Once you are announced as a winner at the bi-monthly awards, you then qualify to attend the YoungStar Gala Dinner where you are judged to become the annual category winner for your local paper. The annual paper winners are then judged by industry experts to be awarded the title of overall category winner, taking with them $5000 cash and prizes.

**Keep Quest updated with your achievements throughout the year as this counts towards your judging for the annual category winner and the overall winner.
