"RISE ABOVE THE TIDE"

SINEAD Burgess has written, recorded and posted online a special fundraising song to help        Queensland’s huge flood relief effort. The singer/songwriter, who was the overall Arts/Education YoungStar winner in 2008-2009, penned Rise Above The Tide within hours of the floods hitting Toowoomba. Burgess enlisted help in Brisbane and the US to produce the track and is urging those logging on to donate to the Premier’s Flood Appeal. ``It was the night after the flood hit Toowoomba and I couldn’t sleep thinking about what has happened,’’ said Ms Burgess, from Beachmere. ``So I decided to write a song. It’s about Queensland stepping up to the task ahead after these floods. ``The next day I sent a demo to my record label. They were fine with it and a friend in the States agreed to produce it. He sent it back in a day,’’ she said. ``Mick Martin, from the Smokin’ Crawdads, helped with the vocals and now I’m trying to set up the links.’‘ Listen to Sinead’s song on her YouTube channel at youtube.com/sineadburgess.
